From Garage Doors to the Big Leagues

You never know where a job at Laviolette Garage Doors might lead!

Two members of the Laviolette family, Bill McInnis and Peter Laviolette, both grew up in Franklin, attended Franklin Public Schools, worked for LGD and went on to have some pretty impressive careers in professional sports.

Bill was a standout athlete at Frankin High School who went on to play Division I baseball at the University of Maine. Bill signed a professional contract with the Boston Red Sox at the end of his junior year in college. He went on to play three seasons of minor league baseball, finishing his career with the Pawtucket Red Sox in AAA.

Peter played hockey at Westfield State before going on to play professionally. He represented Team USA as a player and later as a coach in the Olympics and built a remarkable career in the NHL.  After his playing days, Peter moved behind the bench, coaching several NHL teams with a highlight being leading the Carolina Hurricanes to a Stanley Cup championship in 2006.

Now, Peter is beginning his first season as head coach of the Los Angeles Kings and tonight he’ll be behind the bench as the Kings kick off their season in Colorado.

Good luck this season, Peter. Franklin will be watching!
